Takahiko Abiru is a highly regarded Japanese animator and character designer known for his dynamic character work and strong visual storytelling in modern television anime. He has played key creative roles on several major productions, serving as Character Designer and Chief Animation Director for Nippon Sangoku (TV/2026) and both seasons of Vinland Saga (TV/2019; Season 2, 2023), where his designs helped shape the series’ distinctive historical realism and expressive character acting.

Abiru has also contributed extensively as an Animation Director on the acclaimed Hunter × Hunter (TV/2011), demonstrating his skill in maintaining consistent character animation across complex action sequences. Through these works, he has established a reputation for detailed character design, powerful draftsmanship, and a strong ability to elevate narrative emotion through animation.
