Anime North Manga Contest

Manga artists, do you want a chance to show off your storytelling as well as your art and be published in the first ever Official Anime North Doushinji? Now's your chance.

Rules:

  • Entry must be 4-8 pages in length. Pages should be scaled for 8 X 10 ½’ booklet in black & white.
  • Must be suitable for 13+. No hentai, graphic violence, foul language or disturbing images.
  • Our Mascot, Hoppouno Momiji must appear at least once. Original characters the artist owns or has permission in writing of the copyright holder to use are allowed. Familiar copyright anime characters are not allowed without written permission.
  • The subject of the entry should be a Canadian folk tale, urban legend or ghost story. You can create your own or use something familiar (i.e. Ogopogo, Toronto Island Lighthouse ghost, the Black Donnellys etc.)
  • Can be comedy, adventure, drama, romance or other style, but no gore or extreme horror. Remember, suitable for kids.
  • Artists may submit a maximum of 2 (two) entries. Pages must be
    • numbered 1/8, 2/8 etc. and labeled with the artist’s name.

Submission:

There are three ways to submit your artwork to us:
  1. Post your artwork to your own website. You can use any website you want as long as it can be accessed. Most ISPs include online space with your account, or you can use a picture hosting service like Deviant Arts or Photobucket. Send us an e.mail with MANGA CONTEST in the subject line. You must include your real name, nickname (if you use one for your art) and an address or phone number at which you can be reached. This is the most effective way if you want to submit a very large, high resolution file.


  2. Attach an electronic copy of your artwork in .jpeg format, no larger than 200kb to an e.mail with your real name, nickname (if you use one for your art) and an e.mail address or phone number at which you can be reached. Send it to artcontest@animenorth.com with MANGA CONTEST in the subject line.


  3. If you can not do either of these, you can mail an 81/2 X 11" color photocopy (DO NOT SEND YOUR ORIGINAL ART) to:

All entries must be received by March 15, 2008.

Winners will be decided by the organizing committee of Anime North. We reserve the right to withhold publishing any entry we deem unsuitable for technical or artistic reasons, prizes will not be affected. All decisions are final.
