Crash Space Guidelines


Anime North will offer volunteers the use of shared hotel rooms at the convention. We call these rooms 'Crash space.'

Crash space is only available to convention volunteers who have worked a certain number of hours. Crash space is limited and we cannot guarantee a space to everyone who wants one. It is available Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. The cost is $10 for each night.

The rooms are segregated: males in one room, females in another.

Your room will be assigned to you by the Crash Space Manager. You may not switch or trade your room. You will be sharing the room with other volunteers assigned by the Crash Space Manager. Nobody else is permitted to enter the crash space room.

To sign up for crash space you must follow these 3 rules:

  1. To apply for crash space you must first sign the list at the the volunteer desk.
  2. You must have completed a minimum of 3 hours volunteer work by Friday night to qualify for Friday access, 6 hours by Saturday night to qualify for Saturday access and 3 hours of work by Sunday night to qualify for Sunday access.
  3. You must return to the volunteer desk at 11:30pm (23:30). At this time the Crash Space Manager will collect the $10 fee, and show you to your assigned room.

If you are not at the volunteer desk at 11:30pm you will not get crash space.

If your volunteer duties will keep you working after the 11:30 deadline, you must speak to the Crash Space Manager in advance. Special arrangements may be made at the discretion of the Crash Space Manager.

In the morning there will be a wake-up call at 9 AM, and the room is to be cleared out by 10 AM. You cannot leave any belongings in the room, even if you plan on reapplying for crash space the following day.

If you have a medical condition that affects your sleep, please inform the Crash Space Manager in advance and we try to assist you as best we can.

We do try our best to insure that the volunteers are well taken care of. When possible we put friends in the same room and we have made arrangements for those who wish to go out late for events like the dance.
