Sunday Fashion Show
The Fashion Show returns this year on Sunday, May 26th, from 2:00PM to 4:00PM, on the Main Stage in the Plaza Ballroom of the Doubletree Hotel.
The Fashion Show is a showcase of alternate fashions, with a focus on those of Japanese origin. Main presentation groups include Kimono, Gyaru, Lolita, and Steampunk. Learn more about these fashions, ogle the outfits, and support your fellow congoers as they model these exciting outfits for you.
Kimono: From historical to contemporary, this iconic Japanese garment is explored through a series of outfits focusing on the four seasons. Organized by Christina Stoppa with Justine Sobocan and Marie-Josie Cayer, who have organized the kimono fashion show for several years, as well as the kimono display in the Toronto Congress Centre. Additional support provided by members of the Toronto Kimono Club.
Steampunk: Gears and brass from an alternate, very Victorian, future. Let yourself be transported to another place and time through the fashions of their age.
Gyaru: Make-up, androgyny, elaborate hair and styling. Experience this exciting subculture through its fashion.
Lolita: Let your eyes take in a variety of lolita fashions from sweet to gothic, and learn more about the lolita aesthetic as these outfits are paraded on the stage. Organized once again this year by Nadine Oliver, a very active member of the lolita community.

Designer Showcase: A showcase of the works constructed by established or budding designers who attend Anime North looking for a venue to show off their skills. Each designer has the opportunity to present three to five outfits each, and is responsible for recruiting appropriate models, as well as styling and makeup.
Post-Show Meet and Greet/Red Carpet: After the Fashion Show, the Plaza Foyer/Lobby will be home to an informal Meet and Greet style event. Participants from the Fashion Show will be available for audience members to see the outfits up close, take pictures, meet the designers, and find out how you can join these groups. We’ll also have a literature table with information from the groups and the photographers for the fashion show (Jerry Fei Photography http://jerryfei.com/). As an informal event, the Meet & Greet does not have as end time, but will not go past 5:00 PM.
