Sunday Fashion Show
The Sunday Fashion Show returns this year on May 27th, from 2-4pm, and will be on the Main Stage at the Doubletree Hotel.
The Fashion Show features four different and main styles of alternate fashion: Kimono, Visual Kei & Jrock, Lolita, and Steampunk. Learn more about these fashions, ogle the outfits, and support your fellow congoers as they model exciting outfits for you.
Kimono - From historical to contemporary, this iconic Japanese garment is explored through a series of outfits focusing on the four seasons. This informative display of fashion is organized by Christina Stoppa, who has arranged the kimono fashion show for several years, in addition to the kimono display in the Toronto Congress Centre, with Justine Sobocan.
Steampunk - Gears, brass, and an alternate, very Victorian, future. Let yourself be transported to another place and time through the fashions of their age.
J-rock/Visual Kei - Make-up, androgeny, elaborate hair and styling. Experience this exciting subculture through its fashion.
Lolita - Let your eyes take in the variety of lolita fashions from sweet to gothic, and learn more about the lolita aesthetic as these outfits are paraded on the stage. Organized by Nadine Oliver, an active member of the lolita community who arranged the lolita group last year.
If you have your own outfit from one of these categories, you’re welcome to participate as a model. We’re especially looking for Steampunk and J-rock/Visual Kei models for the show.
If you are in the Dealer’s Room, a company, or a fashion designer whose work fits in one or more of the fashion categories and would like to have some models in the show, this can be arranged.
