The Moonlight Ball presents The Clockworks Ball: a Steampunk/Victorian-themed event which will be held Friday evening, the 24th of May, at the Airport Marriott Hotel, starting at 9PM.
Come out and revel in the alternate timeline that is Steampunk!
This year’s theme centres on the imagination of the Steam-powered Victorian era. There will be dancing (medieval and modern), games inspired by the power of steam, contests, and prizes. Your ticket also includes a light buffet of desserts, candy, and finger foods served later in the evening.
This year’s Grand Prize is a Steampunk Adventure Kit consisting of a quill set, leather-bound notebook, Steampunk goggles, Steampunk gun, and many other Steampunk-related items — all in a snazzy Victorian side bag. And remember: everyone who attends the ball is automatically entered in the draw for the Grand Prize, and the other great prizes. And, throughout the evening, you’ll get even more chances for tickets for the draw!
Moonlight Ball tickets are $35 each and are now available through online Pre-Registration. Only 400 Ball tickets in total are available. If any tickets are left over, they will be sold at the convention prior to the ball and at the door.
Special Events and Requests
A shuttle bus will be running between the Doubletree, Sheraton, and Marriott hotels from 7:30 PM to 2:30 AM on Friday, the night of the Ball.
Bring your ticket or purchase confirmation and your Anime North membership badge with you on the shuttle. Your Anime North membership badge must be worn during the event. We will take ticket stubs and stamp hands for re-entry to allow guests to use the cash bar and washrooms located outside the Plaza Ballroom.
Note: It is your responsibility to read the following dress code description. This is to make sure that your clothing complies. Don't be one of the people we have to turn away because of improper wardrobe!
The Moonlight Ball is primarily a costume ball, so we encourage attendees to come in costume, whatever that may be! Besides, you won't be eligible for costume prizes if you're not in costume will you now? Last year we were amazed by the calibre of dress and beautiful costumes that guests wore to the Ball. We offer attendees two choices in what to wear:
- Formal/semi-formal attire
Some examples of attired which attendees should not wear:
Street-wear such as blue jeans, cut-offs, t-shirts, sweatshirts, khakis, or sport shorts. Sneakers, running shoes, sports sandals, dirty or poor condition footwear. People should refrain from wearing the following: "Strategically placed fur" costumes such as Lum or Felicia, bikinis, swimwear, or bikini-top costumes. Streetwear costumes, such as "L" from Deathnote or Winry from FMA, Left 4 Dead zombies, etc. However, all of these cases can be turned into a ballroom-style costume! Think of what the character would wear to a ball, or what you imagine that character to wear, or transform the outfit into a formal one -- seeing a zombie in a tux would be neat!
Remember, you'll feel very out of place wearing jeans and running shoes while surrounded by beautiful costumes and ball attire. After all, would Rikku really wear her bikini to a ball?
Note: While blue jeans are not acceptable, black dress jeans in good condition would be acceptable if paired with a dress shirt.
Please remember to exercise discretion and good taste if you plan to attend in costume, and keep in mind that this is a formal event.
There will be a coat check available at the hotel for $2 per item. Large bags and coats can be checked so they don't weigh you down at the ball.
