Mark Yungblut

Mark Yungblut is an artist living in Waterloo, Ontario, who specializes in kiri-e, a method of papercutting he learned in Japan. His art has been displayed in Japan, China, and many locations throughout Southern Ontario. He is currently working on building a body of work to be featured in a solo exhibition at a gallery in Tokyo in August, 2018. He continues to study different aspects of the art from his teacher Yasuyuki Okamura, and draws inspiration from other artists while continuing to travel in Japan. Mark also creates works depicting natural scenery and architecture from Canada, as well as wildlife and portraiture in a continuous expansion of his portfolio.

Due to increasing demand, teaching the art of kiri-e to others has also become a focus of his. He has begun teaching students online and in person, in both one to one sessions and workshops at local galleries and cultural centres.

Mark’s work can be seen on his website, www.japanesepapercutting.com, and can be reached at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
