Background Art Director, Kinema Citrus

Born in 1974, Osamu MASUYAMA is an animation background art director. He joined Studio Ghibli in 1999 and contributed to the studio’s BG art production in the 2000’s for the award winning Spirited Away, Ponyo, Howl’s Moving Castle, etc. In 2009, he founded his own company, Inspired, a studio which specializes in anime BG art production. His prolific filmography includes other prestigious titles such as: The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, Your Name, Made in Abyss, My Happy Marriage, Delicious in Dungeon

He teaches at Digital Hollywood University as a specially-appointed professor. He is also an author of several books showcasing various technical aspects of drawing anime backdrops.
